    Mutete Bakhita is an Afrique futurism collage artisté and Sustainable Fashion educator, drawing inspiration from her ancestors, infinite now, and the inevitable African future. Her artwork and advocacy is rooted in the synergistic connections that unite all beings and elements.

    At the end of 2018, Rebecca gave up fast fashion for good. On Instagram (@beckymaryhughes) Rebecca shares the positive impact of buying ethical and responsible fashion for people and the planet. During this time Rebecca has developed a keen eye for identifying greenwashing as well as a passion for finding and championing up-and-coming sustainable fashion brands! I'm excited to be a part of Style & Sustain. I want to help others discover the wonderful world of slow fashion and to give readers the tools to shop more sustainably!

  • Hannah Getachew - Writer

    Hannah Getachew (she/her) is a PhD student at King's College London where she examines the climate-compatibility of the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement, with a view to transforming it into a tool for green growth. Hannah holds an LLM in Transnational Law, an LLB and a BA. In addition, she is the founder of Green Baobab, a platform seeking to prosper Africa by tackling environmental issues for the benefit of people and the planet.

    Emily is a commercial fashion photographer who creates content for sustainable brands around London and Europe. Born in Peru and living half of her life in London, her curiosity for sustainable fashion evolved over the years. In line with her wider values, she tells stories sustainably by offsetting her own carbon footprint to be carbon neutral. Emily values slow living, ethical practices, and mindful consumption - and is keen to work with brands that share these ideals.

  • Nabeela Abubakar -Writer

    From volunteering her time and expertise to Environmental Protection to founding the Go-To Fair, a gathering that aims to inspire, educate, and empower individuals to make sustainable choices that benefit both the planet and our local communities. Nabeela is a passionate sustainability advocate based in Accra.

  • Akiera Charles - Writer

    Akiera is an environmental justice practitioner and multi-hyphenated creative. She is a local Bed Stuy native from the Caribbean. After she found herself faced with financial hardships upon starting grad school and wanting to “look fly on dem” NYC streets, Akiera started Bed Stuy Clothes Swap during fall 2018 right in front of her house. As a lover of radical Black joy, horror movies, dream building and immersive soundscapes, Akiera is deeply invested in creating brave spaces for co-dreaming, resilience and joy.

  • Neesha -Ann Longdon

    Leaving her job in finance, Neesha is a sustainability/ ESG consultant and public speaker committed to driving the sustainable transition across fashion's value chain. She currently works as a Partnerships Consultant to a Ghana-based non-profit, The OR Foundation, who are on a mission to realise a justice-led circular fashion model for the Kantamanto community dealing with textile waste from the Global North.

  • Milla Wood - Writer

    Following a Masters degree in Luxury Brand Management at Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design in 2020 opened her eyes to the impact of the fashion industry on the environment and the prevalence of greenwashing, Milla gave up fast fashion for good and launched Circular Style, a blog that aims to advocate circular fashion and highlight how we, as consumers, can shop more consciously. On Instagram, Milla (@circularstyle_) spotlights sustainable British brands, curates vintage guides for fashion capitals Paris, London, New York and Los Angeles and keeps her finger on the fashion pulse while highlighting preloved alternatives, in the hope of inspiring her community to join the slow fashion movement.

  • Alice Hartwell - Writer

    Alice is a versatile freelance creative, providing copywriting and journalistic services to fashion brands and publications worldwide. Working predominantly with sustainably-minded businesses, she has developed both a professional and personal commitment to responsible fashion. Alice believes passionately in the power of buying better and less, and investing in second-hand pieces that prove conscious consuming never has to compromise signature style.
